Our mission

The Women of Open Source community is a global community dedicated to supporting, celebrating, and amplifying the voices of women who contribute to open source software. We provide a welcoming space for both cis and trans women and non-binary and gender-nonconforming people who are interested in and/or contributing to Open Source. We welcome folk at all stages of their open source journey - from those taking their first steps to experienced maintainers and leaders.

What we do

Community and connection

We bring together women from around the world who are passionate about open source. Through our online platforms and in-person events, we create opportunities for networking, collaboration, and friendship.

Mentorship and learning

Whether you’re making your first contribution or leading a major project, we are developing mentorship programs, workshops, and resources to help you grow your skills and confidence in the open source ecosystem.

Visibility and opportunities

We maintain a directory of speakers and showcase the incredible work being done by women in open source. Our platform helps connect our community members with speaking opportunities and career advancement.
